Pakke is cocooned in its lofty mountains, graciously falling water falls, dancing rivers and endless game trails, all embedded in emerald greens. With Tiger as the flagship species leading the rally, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Leopard Cat, Snow Leopard, Marbled Cat, Jungle Cat, Fishing Cat, Black Panther are all there to follow. Besides, a scintillating array of other mammalian species like Black Panther, Wild Dog, Jackal, Himalayan Black Bear, Biturong, Elephant, Gaur (Indian Bison), Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Hog deer, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Slow Loris, Yellow Throated Martin, Malayan Giant Squirrel, Flying squirrel, Palm Civet, Capped Langur, Rhesus Macaque, Assamese Macaque, Bison etc reign supreme in this rugged terrain. The presence of Stamp Tailed Macaque has recently been reported by one researcher. A new bird species 'Bugun Liocidhla' has also been discovered recently at Pakke.
Those apart, Pakke treasure trove is decorated with nature's cascading gifts of 450 species of birds, 700 plus species of butterflies, 160 species of invertebrates, 175 species of orchids and 300 species of. of flowering plants. Truly, a matchless treasure trove, not to be found elsewhere in India.
Some of the speciality birds of Pakke include Jerdon's baza, Pied falconet, White-cheeked hill-partridge, Grey peacock-pheasant, Elwe's crake, Ibisbill, Emerald cuckoo, Red-headed Trogon, Green-pigeon, Forest Eagle-Owl, Wreathed and Great hornbills, Collared and Long-tailed Broadbills, Blue-naped Pitta, Lesser Shortwing, White-browed Shortwing, Daurian Redstart, Leschenault's forktail.
